Report: Lebron James wants to be a Laker

From Hoophype.com

Sources close to Phil Jackson say LeBron James has expressed interest in joining the Los Angeles Lakers. "LeBron wants to win. He's a smart guy, and Phil loves LeBron, absolutely LOVES him," according to the report. Obviously, there is way too much involved with a situation like this for one blurb, but if the report holds water then look for this to become a big storyline in the upcoming days.

OurSlice: Is there room for Kobe and Lebron on the same team? I think he should stay in Cleveland. Especially if they win this year.

Michael Jordan buys The Charlotte Bobcats...

He has been called the NBA's greatest player and one of the country's top pitchmen. Now Michael Jordan is ready for a new title: NBA owner. With minutes to go until his exclusive negotiating window was to expire, Jordan struck a deal late Friday night to buy controlling interest of the Charlotte Bobcats, putting the six-time NBA champion in charge of the money-losing team in his home state.
OurSlice: Good for MJ! If anyone can make that team profitable -- it's him!

FBI investigated series of threatening letters to the late Pistons coach Chuck Daly during championship years, government records show...

The FBI investigated a series of threatening letters sent to Pistons coach Chuck Daly at the height of their championship run. One passage in a letter read: "God made me realize that YOU, not Laimbeer, Mahorn or any of the others are the one possesed by Satan." These letters were written during the 1989-1990 season.
OurSlice: It's actually surprising things like this don't happen more often. Who knows, maybe we just don't hear about it.

Kobe Bryant passes Jerry West as the all-time leading scorer in Los Angeles Laker history...

Kobe Bryant scored 44 points against the Grizzlies Monday and passed Jerry West as the L.A. Lakers' career scorer. "It's a great honor to say the least [because] of the great players that have played here and the tradition we have," Bryant said. "[West] taught me so much when I was 17 years old. He showed me a lot about the game, the jump shot and spin moves and all the others."
OurSlice: Jerry West was the best clutch shooter in the history of the NBA. Time will tell whether Kobe can leave that kind of legacy.

Gilbert Arenas writes Op-Ed piece for the Washington Post and apologizes for bringing a gun into the locker room...

Suspended Washington Wizards guard Gilbert Arenas says in an op-ed piece written for The Washington Post that he now understands 'guns and violence are serious problems, not joking matters' and 'pledges to be a better role model.' He says NBA commissioner David Stern had reason to give him a season-ending suspension. He also acknowledges he damaged 'the image of the NBA and its players.'
OurSlice: No one wants to watch spoiled, rich athletes play basketball. Clean up the league Stern or else no one is going to watch anymore.
